Will Your Student Survive
in College?

Adjusting to college can be overwhelming, confusing and frustrating.  In fact, only 37% of new college students graduate in four years, and only 27% of all adults in the U.S. hold a Bachelor's degree or higher.

The College Life Skills Course® teaches high school students the unique A7MQ Life Management Method that helps them make
a smooth transition to college and adulthood. Students are introduced to the social and academic demands of the college community, and learn what goes on behind the scenes in higher education---all in a non-threatening, risk-free atmosphere.

Who Should Attend:

Students at all levels of academic ability will benefit from enrolling
in the College Life Skills Course®. This includes athletes, gifted and talented students, honor students, students who are first in their families to attend college and students who doubt they have what
it takes to succeed.

How Students Will Benefit:

Research shows that students who enroll in college success
courses are less likely to stop-out, drop-out, or flunk-out of
college. They experience fewer surprises, feel better prepared,
and are more confident about their ability to cope with college pressures. They also take charge of their lives and accept
personal responsibility for their successes and failures.

What Makes This Course Unique?

1. It's Early! The best time for students to learn how to manage their lives in college is when they are in high school.  Why make students wait until they are totally immersed in the college experience to get an understanding of what is going on around them, and what they will need to do to survive? Taking this course early gives students more time to process the information and put it into practice.

2. It's Comprehensive! Everything students need to know about how to get in, stay in and get out of college---with a degree---is now in one place. This course covers all three phases of the college experience---admission, matriculation and graduation.

3. It's Enlightening! There is more to college than just academics. Students are taught the 'hidden curriculum'---subject matter they need to know that is not taught in high school or published in the college catalog. They learn what colleges expect from them and the consequences of not meeting those expectations. The course also dispels the myths often perpetuated in the media about the college experience.

 4. It's Rigorous! Students are asked to respond to seven questions that apply to seven areas of their lives. Each answer builds the framework for a step-by-step plan of action for achieving their goals. Students complete written assignments, engage in self-discovery activities and participate in group discussions. The course's two-day, intensive, questions-based format gives students a sneak preview of the commitment of time and energy required for college success. Learning takes place in classes that are small enough to give each student individual attention.
